Budget 2012/2013
demanding on all of us as the Government drives to reduce the national deficit.
As always with the Essex Budget, we work to improve local services and at the same time drive for greater efficiency.
There are major reviews underway on back office support and corporate services and our Transformation Programme continues to deliver real savings and improvements in our cost base.
We have just announced a new Highways deal which promises to improve service delivery and yet reduce costs.
Announcements on this new venture will be made in the new future and at regular intervals throughout the year ahead..
As we move towards a Commissioning Organisation we must ensure that our computer systems and hardware are fit for purpose and so we will be investing in IT projects in the forthcoming 3 years. We have already agreed to match fund the £5 million being provided by the Government and so over £10 million will be invested in improving Broadband throughout the County.
The good new is that there will be no Council Tax increase in the next financial year.
0% increase !!! Obviously in areas where there are parish councils there maybe a parish precept - but all Districts and the County Council we be accepting the Governments grant to keep Council Tax at zero percent.
